Overview
The International Benchmarking Environmental Sanitation Sultanate of Oman is a 8-days event taking place from February 8th to 16th, 2024 in Muscat, Oman. This event organized by Investors Bridge – Oman in partnership with Lavoro Solutions, a leading international environmental consulting firm. The International Benchmarking Environmental Sanitation event is designed to provide South American and Portuguese participants with an in-depth look at Oman’s environmental infrastructure, technologies, and regulatory frameworks.
Goals
Showcasing Oman's Innovations: To introduce participants from Brazil, other South American countries, and Portugal to the latest advancements, best practices, and cutting-edge technologies being implemented in Oman's environmental and sanitation sectors, including waste-to-energy, water treatment, and sustainable infrastructure.
Knowledge Exchange: To facilitate discussions and learning opportunities where Omani experts can share their experiences, challenges, and solutions with the Brazilian, other South American, and Portuguese delegates, fostering a mutual exchange of knowledge and ideas.
Networking and Collaboration: To establish connections and collaborative opportunities between Omani authorities, industries, and their Brazilian, other South American, and Portuguese counterparts, paving the way for future partnerships, technology transfers, and joint projects.
Policy Insights: To provide Brazilian, other South American, and Portuguese participants with an understanding of Oman's evolving environmental legislation, regulations, and tariff models, offering insights that may be applicable to their own countries' policy frameworks.
Target Audience
- Government officials and policymakers from the Sultanate of Oman's Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs, Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, and other relevant authorities.
- Environmental and sanitation experts, primarily from Brazil, other South American countries, and Portugal, representing international organizations, research institutions, and consulting firms like Lavoro Solutions.
- Executives and representatives from leading companies in the waste management, water and wastewater treatment, renewable energy, and sustainable infrastructure sectors, many of which are Brazilian, from other South American countries or Portuguese.
- Academic researchers and professors from Brazil, other South American countries, and Portugal, specializing in environmental engineering, sustainability, and urban planning.
- Representatives from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and community groups focused on environmental protection and sustainability, including those with ties to Brazil, other South American countries, and Portugal.
Past Programs
Although the International Benchmarking Environmental Sanitation event in the Sultanate of Oman is new, it draws on the success of previous programs organized by Lavoro Solutions. This event will utilize the insights and connections established during those past events to provide participants from South America and Portugal with a thorough understanding of Oman’s environmental and sanitation landscape.
XVII International Benchmarking Solid Waste Portugal:
Held in Lisbon, Chamusca, Leiria, Viseu, Tondela, and Porto, this event offered a comprehensive immersion in waste management in Portugal. With technical visits to excellent infrastructures and discussions on business models, concessions, reverse logistics, and recycling, the program highlighted innovations and best practices in environmental sanitation. Beyond technical learning, participants had the opportunity to explore local culture and gastronomy, strengthening networking between Brazilian and Portuguese experts.
II International Benchmarking Solid Waste Switzerland:
This event, held in Switzerland, brought together international experts to discuss best practices and innovative solutions for solid waste management. The program explored topics such as waste planning, regional arrangements, business models, concessions and public-private partnerships, environmental control and licensing, and operational infrastructure.
II International Benchmarking Environmental Sanitation Portugal:
This initiative in Portugal aimed to provide technical training, networking, and knowledge exchange for environmental professionals, with a focus on water supply, wastewater management, and solid waste valorization. The event covered innovations in environmental sanitation, from planning and regional arrangements to business models, concessions, and PPPs, as well as operational infrastructure, consumer relations, quality indicators, tariff modeling, and regulatory frameworks.
